Fraud Detection (Deduplication)

This article explains how QoreID helps companies eliminate duplicate applicants and prevent fraud.

Introducing the Deduplication Feature

Duplicate entries in a database can cause confusion, inconsistencies, and even fraud. That's why we're excited to introduce our deduplication feature, which ensures that applicants in your database are not duplicated by storing a 3D face map of the applicant against a unique customer reference ID. This way, applicants with multiple ID numbers cannot evade our identity checks and will be flagged instantly.

How does it work?

When an applicant tries to make a verification request over QoreID API, their face is compared against our database. If there is a match, their profile is updated with the new information. If there is no match, a new entry is created.

This feature was implemented to prevent fraud across all of our customers at QoreID.

For example, if Abraham has tried to misrepresent himself at Company A, we can detect and prevent the same person from doing the same at Company B by checking their 3D face map against our database.

With the deduplication feature, you can ensure that users with fraudulent intent are not able to game your verification process, saving you time and money. Plus, you can rest easy knowing that you're doing your part to prevent fraud and protect your company's reputation and revenue.

Local Duplicates

In detecting local duplicates, the verification process checks for duplicates within the same organization or company. This means that when an applicant submits a verification request, their face is compared against the existing profiles or records within the organization's own database. If a match is found, it indicates that the applicant already has a profile or record in the organization's system. In this case, the existing profile can be updated with the new information provided by the applicant.

Use Case

The purpose of checking for local duplicates is to ensure that individuals cannot create multiple profiles within the same organization using different identities. This feature helps prevent fraudulent activities such as identity theft or misrepresentation within a specific organization. By detecting local duplicates, QoreID API assists in maintaining the integrity of the verification process and enhances the overall security of the organization's operations.

Global Duplicates

Global duplicates refer to the identification of duplicates across multiple organizations or companies. When an applicant submits a verification request, their 3D face map is compared directly against other Government databases. This global database allows for comprehensive cross-referencing and identification of any potential matches.

Use Case

The purpose of checking for global duplicates is to identify individuals who may have attempted fraudulent activities or misrepresentation across different organizations. By comparing an applicant's 3D face map against a wide range of profiles, QoreID API can detect if the same person has previously been involved in fraudulent activities at other companies. This helps protect companies from individuals with a history of fraudulent behavior and strengthens the collective effort to prevent fraud on a larger scale.
