Fraud Detection (Deduplication)

This article explains how QoreID helps companies eliminate duplicate applicants and prevent fraud.

Introducing the Deduplication Feature

Duplicate entries in a database can cause confusion, inconsistencies, and fraud. The deduplication feature ensures that applicants are not duplicated by storing a 3D face map of each applicant against a unique customer reference ID. This prevents applicants from using multiple ID numbers to bypass identity checks, as duplicates are flagged instantly.

How does it work?

When an applicant submits a verification request via the QoreID API, their face is compared against the existing database.

If a match is found, the existing profile is updated with the new information. If no match is found, a new profile is created.

This feature is implemented to prevent fraud across all QoreID customers.

For example, if an individual attempts to misrepresent themselves at Company A, QoreID can prevent the same person from doing so at Company B by matching their 3D face map against the database.

With deduplication, you can prevent fraudulent users from gaming your verification process, save time and costs, and protect your company’s reputation and revenue.

Local Duplicates

Local duplicates detect duplicate applicants within the same organization.

When an applicant submits a verification request, their face is compared against profiles already stored in the organization’s database.

If a match is found, it indicates the applicant already has an existing profile. The existing profile can then be updated with the new information.

Use Case

Local duplicate checks prevent individuals from creating multiple profiles within the same organization using different identities. This helps prevent fraud such as identity theft or misrepresentation and maintains the integrity of the verification process.

Global Duplicates

Global duplicates identify duplicate applicants across multiple organizations.

When an applicant submits a verification request, their 3D face map is compared against other QoreID and government databases. This enables cross-organization detection of potential matches.

Use Case

Global duplicate checks identify individuals who may have engaged in fraudulent activities across different organizations. By detecting the same individual across multiple platforms, QoreID helps companies avoid repeat fraudsters and strengthens fraud prevention at scale.
